MOSTe holds 7 Saturday workshops during the school year, on the campus of the University of Southern California. Each workshop features a theme and a keynote speaker to raise awareness of academic options, career paths, and community issues. Girls also take part in group activities designed to equip them with a broad base of skills to become prepared for college.
Sample workshop activities include:
- College 101: Students learn about the A-G requirements, and how to choose a college-bound curriculum. They learn the difference between public and private colleges and universities, and think about which kind best suits them.
- Time Management: Through interactive team games, students grasp time management, prioritization, communication and problem solving, skills necessary for success both in school and in the workplace.
- Financial Planning: Scholars roleplay money management, creating a paycheck-based budget to cover living expenses, learning the cost of credit and the importance of managing their debt-to-income ratio.
- Networking and Etiquette: Before attending the annual MOSTe Lanterns Luncheon, scholars learn how to navigate it as they would a business lunch.
